Oneness Apostolic faith

The United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI)

           It is a global Apostolic Pentecostal organization founded in 1945. Out of hundreds of Oneness Christian groups globally, it is currently the largest Oneness Pentecostal denomination in the world with more than 6 million members and 45,000 churches in 203 nations. The UPCI’s 12,300 ministers and 5,132 churches in North America emphasize the absolute oneness of God, rejecting the traditional doctrine of the Trinity, and teach that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, and receiving the Holy Spirit, accompanied by the evidence of speaking in tongues.

We Are the People of the Book

           In the Quran, "People of the Book" (Ahl-alKitab) refers primarily to Jews and Christians, who are recognized as recipients of earlier divine scriptures, namely the Torah (Tawrāt) and the Gospel (Injīl). The Quran mentions them in over 50 verses, addressing their beliefs, behaviors, and relationship with Muslims.

Authenticity of the Bible

           Al-Tabari in Jāmi‘ al-bayān ‘an ta’wīl āy al-Qur’ān, one of the most comprehensive commentaries, expresses views on Christians changing the meaning of the Bible’s focus primarily on tahrif bi’l-ma’ni through false interpretations or verbal distortions during recitation (corruption of interpretation or meaning) rather than tahrif bi’l-lafz (alteration of the text itself). He contrasts righteous Christians, who uphold their scriptures correctly (Surah Al-Imran 3:113-114), with those who distort meanings, indicating not all Christians are guilty of tahrif.

           Some believe the Bible has been altered, but what often confuses the issue is the variety of translations and interpretations. Just as languages and cultures express words in different ways, the Bible has been translated so that people everywhere can understand it. But the message has remained the same from the beginning: God is one, He loves us, and He has provided a way of salvation.

           The Bible’s authenticity is supported by thousands of ancient manuscripts, like the Dead Sea Scrolls and Codex Sinaiticus, dating back centuries before Islam. These show the text has been preserved with remarkable accuracy, aligning with the Quran’s recognition of the Torah and Gospel as divine revelations (Surah Al-Imran 3:3).”

Who We Are

           Oneness Christians believe in one God who has revealed Himself fully in Jesus Christ. We follow the faith of the apostles in the Bible: teaching repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, and the necessity of receiving the gift of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Our message is centered on God’s love, His call to live in holiness, and the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ.

One God

            We believe in one God — the Creator of the heavens and the earth — merciful, powerful, and holy. God is a single being, not three separate persons, as in the concept of the Trinity. We believe Jesus Christ is the full expression of God, embodying all His roles. As Colossians 2:9 says, “In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead.” This aligns with our shared belief in one God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are manifestations of the only God.

The Word of God

            The Holy Bible (Old and New Testaments) is a collection of 66 books originally written in Hebrew and Greek by approximately 40 authors over a span of 1,500 years. The New Testament’s 27 books were written by 8 authors who were followers of Jesus. The 4 Gospels document the teaching of Jesus during His ministry. It is God’s inspired message to all people. It teaches us how to live in peace with God and with one another.

The Miracles of Jesus

            We expect and experience miracles in our lives. Jesus (Isa al-Masih) performed many miracles that showed God’s power and compassion. He healed the sick, opened blind eyes, cleansed lepers, fed multitudes, and even raised the dead. These signs revealed that He was more than a prophet — He was God’s living Word at work among us. The greatest miracle of all was His resurrection, proving His victory over sin and death. Miracles are ongoing demonstrations of the power of God, rooted in biblical promises and expressed in healings, deliverances, and spiritual gifts. This belief remains central to our faith and ministry, as evidenced by hundreds of thousands of documented testimonies of miracles all over the world.

The Assurance of Heaven

            God is holy, and when we transgress His law, no amount of good deeds is enough to pay for our sins. God is perfectly just; He cannot overlook sin. Yet, He is also full of mercy; not willing that any should go to Hell. At the cross, His justice and His mercy met. Jesus took the penalty for our sins so that God could forgive us while remaining completely just (Romans 3:25-26).

           Assurance of Heaven comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which empowers believers to live righteously and provides inner confidence of their salvation, provided they persevere in faith and holiness. Through Jesus Christ, we can have peace and confidence. The Bible says that we can “know that [we] have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). Salvation is a gift from God through faith, not something we earn by our works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The New Birth

            The new birth, which includes repentance, water baptism in Jesus’ name, and receiving the Holy Spirit with the gift of speaking in tongues, is the biblical process for salvation based on Acts 2:38 and John 3:5. It’s a transformative experience that unites believers with Jesus Christ and empowers holy living. Receiving the Holy Ghost enables us to love sacrificially, to overcome sinful desires, and to have peace and joy.

Holy Living

            God’s Word teaches that holiness is expressed not only in our hearts and actions, but also in our appearance. This includes modesty in appearance, which involves avoiding makeup and jewelry. We believe men and women should wear modest clothing that is respectful and does not draw undue attention.

           God designed marriage to be between Men and women, who are created with distinct identities. We honor God by maintaining clear distinctions between men’s and women’s styles. “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God” (Deuteronomy 22:5).

           For women, the Bible teaches that uncut hair is a sign of honor and devotion to God and is considered her covering. For men, short hair is a sign of respect to God’s created order (1 Corinthians 11:14-15). These outward signs reflect an inward desire to please God and to live in accordance with His design.

Apostolic Pentecostal

            Apostolic signifies our commitment to the early church’s doctrine taught by the Apostles of Jesus, as seen by restoring the New Testament church’s doctrine, experience, and lifestyle. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them... and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...”

Pentecostal refers to the transformative experience of the disciples on the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit filled them, as indicated by the initial sign of speaking in tongues. That day marked the birth of the Church.
